Embracing Digital Technology in the 21st Century
In the ever-evolving landscape of the 21st century, digital technology plays a crucial role in education, preparing students for future success. At Cranbourne East Secondary College we prioritise not only the integration of advanced digital tools in our curriculum but also the safety and well-being of our students in a digital environment.
Ensuring Safe Digital Learning
As an eSmart school, we are committed to creating a safe and supportive digital space for all learners. Our educators design learning experiences and outcomes that utilise a diverse range of strategies, aimed at developing powerful, capable learners. By participating in our BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Program, students gain access to a personal device that significantly enhances their learning opportunities, allowing students to enrich their learning outside the walls of their regular learning environment.
The Importance of Digital Literacy
Digital literacy is an essential skill in today’s world. Our BYOD program, combined with well-considered learning opportunities and knowledgeable educators, helps to facilitate the development of these critical skills. Students learn to navigate and utilise digital tools effectively, preparing them for a future where technology is everywhere. Educators at CESC guide students through this journey, ensuring they develop not only technical skills but also the critical thinking and ethical understanding necessary to use technology responsibly.
Expectations and Responsible Use
In 2024, students at CESC will continue to partake in the BYOD program (see device guide)
We have clear expectations regarding the responsible use and care of personal mobile devices. At our school, it is essential that students act as responsible digital citizens, adhering to our Digital Citizenship policy guidelines. Through this, students develop positive attitudes towards ICT that support lifelong learning, personal growth, collaboration, and productivity.
Our mission is to empower students to harness the full potential of digital technology while fostering a safe, responsible, and enriching learning environment.
